Resource Allocation in Downlink of Multiuser OFDM Systems
In practice, the transmission between the transmitter and the receiver is subject to frequency selective fading. To
enhance the system performance and the band efficiency, the wide transmission band is equally divided into many
subcarriers in OFDM, which are orthogonal to each other and may have different channel gain-to-noise ratios. This
frequency diversity allows for that different rates and powers can be allocated to different subcarriers according to
their channel characteristics. The considered broadcasting downlink consists of one based station and multiple users.
Each transmitter and receiver is equipped with one antenna. Channels from the transmitter to different receivers are
uncorrelated. This user diversity provides the possibility that users may employ different subcarriers to achieve the
best system performance.
In this programming project, the discrete baseband multiuser OFDM will be implemented including the data and channel
generators, mapper and demapper, FFT and IFFT, data detection, etc. At least one complete method for multiuser resource
allocation will be realized. The important features of the system and the resource allocation will be visualized.
C++ is preferred as programming language. Some basic libraries (Matrix operations, random number generators, etc.) will
be provided.
